The Fork

photo1.jpgStruggling for inspiration one day I picked up the closest photography book to hand, Icons of Photography: the 20th Century. I tried to find the simplest photography to emulate and I chose "The Fork" by Andre Kertesz (1928) - the original is shown for reference here. A couple of hours later I had almost given up in frustration. How can such a simple composition be so hard top replicate?

I learnt a lot that afternoon and realized how much more I had yet to learn too.
