Concrete Stairs

I'm feeling quite pleased with myself. I've mentioned before my intention to reclaim my name in the virtual world, with respect to google at least. Even in the fall of last year if you searched on Martin Taylor you'd find my page, if you were persistent enough, on the 8th page of the search results. Today I find myself fourth on the first page. I'm not sure how much further the methods I know will take me but that's pretty good progress. The problem is that, according to my server logs, Google and other search engines are now my largest referers by a huge margin. On a global scale I don't know that many people so I can only assume most people who google on to my site aren't looking for me, my photography or my opinions. I'm not sure what to do about this or even if it is cause for concern.

It does make me wonder why I have this site though. It's too broad a statement to just claim that it's my creative and personal outlet; the same is true for just about every ego site on the web. I know I want people to see my work but who? I'm glad that some of the photobloggers that I admire stop by from time to time but what purpose does it serve to drag frustrated jazz fans on to my site?
