My Little Eye

There are many reasons why people turn to photography but wanting to be behind the camera, not in front of it must rank near the top of that list. I truly hate having my picture taken. I'm tempted to take a course at the local photography center on self-portrait as self-expression as a way to get over this hang-up but I'm not sure I would survive 6 weeks of assignments using myself as the model.

That said, today's picture is a self-portait of sorts. Actually I was messing around with infrared photography again and was trying to see what skin and eyes looked like under bright sunlight. As you can see the effect is a little freaky looking. In real life I am decidedly unfreaky looking; not old or young -- exactly the average height for a European male -- no distinguishing marks, tattoos, piercing's, strange hair styles, etc. -- in the looks department I fall somewhere mid-way between Brad Pitt and the John Merrick on the scale. 'Average' does have some advantages though; fading into the background even when you're carrying a large camera can help to get the shot.
