Pet Photoblog Peeve (PPP) #3 - photobloggers who moan about who hard it is
to take or post an image a day. No one is forcing them to post an image a day
and, if they are forcing themselves to post images just to conform to some
formula for success, the standard of these forced images is, doubtless, not
as good as their other work. If you don't want to post an image today or even
this week or this month then just don't. And don't apologize for not posting
either. Don't tell your visitors how burnt out you are, how difficult it is
to find time for photography in your hectic life, and how you're going on hiatus
for a while to regroup, only to start posting again 3 days later. Certainly
don't go ploughing through your back archives or your C-list shots just to
make up numbers. Forcing yourself to be creative is not productive. No one's
making any money out of photoblogging. No one's your boss, not even your regular
visitors, so you don't owe anyone anything. Save deadlines (and grumbling about
them) for your day job.
