I felt proud when I saw that this image was used
by Flickr as the lead picture to illustrate the Flickr333
party on their news blog. This has made it my most
viewed picture on Flickr to date by a long shot - already 1100+ views. For
a flickerite for whom 30 views for a picture is more normal this is a big deal
even though I know the A-list flickrists get 1k views per picture and much more
on a regular basis.
I was happy with how this picture came out, taken with my new Rebel and the
bargain 50mm f1.8 'standard' lens. I was happy because 'documentary' is not
my usual style (as regular visitors will know already). I was happy because
the room was filled with hundreds of photographers with high-end equipment all
snapping away and then posting to flickr and yet this image got chosen to be
featured. As I said, it's not a big deal but it's little moments like this that
make you think 'I must be doing something right' and I will embrace them when
I can as fuel to get through the more usual rejections. |
