Playing Tourist

Over Christmas we stayed for a few days in a downtown hotel. It may seem a little strange to stay in a hotel in your own town while you're paying the mortgage on a perfectly nice house but it is refreshing. It's nice to have room service at your disposal but I also enjoy playing tourist every once in a while. Locals spend so much time avoiding traffic and real tourists that we avoid places like Union Square and Pier 39. Visiting them reminds me why I fell in love with this city and moved here in the first place. Playing tourist also gives you a passport to take postcard shots hence today's shot of a cable car as taken by all who visit San Francisco.

Have a happy a safe New Year. See you back here in 2004.
