B&W Digital Photography: The How's and Why's

An introduction to B&W digital photography. The presentation begins by asking why you would want to make digital black and white images and then goes on to demonstrate 5 conversion methods using Photoshop Elements 8.

I gave this presentation to my camera club, Photochrome.org and recorded the audio at that time. I then edited the presentation down to a manageable length and added slides and screen casts. I hope you find something useful.

The free channel mixer effect I mentioned can be downloaded here: hiddenelements.com

The Virtual Photographer plugin can be found here: optikvervelabs.com

If you want to see the conversion methods without the aesthetics part of the presentation, skip forward to minute 12. View full screen to see full details of the menus, navigation etc in the screencasts.
